THE SCHOOL CREST
The central figure of the EXED Emblem is an eagle in full flight. Chosen in 1931 as a symbol of speed and strength, it bears aloft the banner “Excelsior – Yet Higher” and the motto “Age Animo” translated in English to mean “Do it with thy might”.
The green, silver and gold were adopted to represent youth and promise of fortune in store for all who fulfill the aims and motto of Excelsior.
The EXED concept of a comprehensive educational institution of life-long learning in a school community with an outreach programme was added later. The concept is expressed in the widening circles surrounding the original Excelsior Crest.
